What does body, mind and spirit REALLY MEAN?

The Pilates Method of fitness is by far the most effective method to stay in shape, feel better, manage chronic pain, improve posture and slim down target areas. One benefit that has gone untapped, that comes with a regular Pilates practice, is the new awareness of the body, the mind and the spirit.

We hear the words, body, mind and spirit everywhere these days,
but what do they actually mean
when it comes to affecting and impacting
the mind, the body and the spirit of a human being?

By virtue of the attention to the breath - the depth of the breath, and "moving on/with the breath"- there is an impact on the spirit angle of the person. By virtue of the intense focus to move with control and precision, there is an impact on the mental angle of the person. I could go on and on with evidence..............

Moving into the next decade it will no longer be sufficient to only work on the physical angle of the human being. You can look great but "feel" mentally lousy . You can look great but not experience being connected to joy (the spirit of life) - in fact, disconnected.

We will be launching a powerful and unique Well Being Advanced Healthcare System in 2010. This practice will connect the dots of body, mind and spirit leaving people with not only looking great, but feeling great and experiencing the joy of being alive that we all deserve.

Wellness and Music Vibration Event

After 10 years of service in the Englewood NJ community, I am offering free consultations to patients of Englewood Hospital who suffer from neurological disease or dysfunction. After working with many people with Parkinson's disease and MS, I find it critical to employ the best functional exercise program possible. Understanding the primary issue to work on with people is the key to balancing the effects of any neurological dysfunction. The source can be any number of things. If you work on the wrong aspect, there is no real improvement. Improvement and impact comes from understanding the source and primary aspect of what degenerates and/or declines a person's ability.

I am also offering discounts to senior citizens who are part of Holy Name Hospital hoping to create new knowledge and more options for people to exercise in a positive and encouraging environment.

I hope to see you on October 18th from 3-7pm at our studio - 60 Grand Avenue, Englewood New Jersey to celebrate the tools we can give to people for a healthier and positive lifestyle

Your Posture can Change your Experience of Life

Most people do not realize that when you change your posture, your experience of life can alter.
For instance, think of someone who is sad. If you look at their posture - the way they sit, the pace of their gait while walking, how they stand, you will see a match of the physical form to the emotional state. Think of someone who is happy - the pace of their gait while walking, the way they engage in conversation and the way they stand.

The main purpose of practicing Pilates is to alter the posture - the way the bones are held in space, the way the muscles sit on the bones and the strength and tone of the muscle once it is placed properly on the bony structure. The result is not only a better looking body but more importantly an altered state of well being, confidence and pleasure of life.

It seems simple because it is simple. It's not complicated. You can learn how to alter your experience of life by one simple change to your posture. Pilates, Gyrotonic, Power Plate Acceleration Training, Yoga, Meditation are all access to altering your posture and state of mind.

Enjoy the pleasure of life and alter the way life occurs to you with a consistent Pilates practice and you will have peace of mind in any circumstance that life has in store for you!

All About Pilates

Pilates Thought for the Week

The best way to get the most of a Pilates session is to pay particular attention to your form while you perform the movement. Pilates is not just doing an exercise. Pilates is a method of thinking where your body is placed in space while you move. If you pay attention to the placement of your spine, pelvis and shoulder girdle while you execute any of the exercises you will get maximum value. Your muscles will be worked in proper form as you work on the Pilates Reformer, Pilates Mat, Stability Chair and Tower resulting in musculature that is firmly developed and properly strengthened. Along with deep breath and focus you can expect to feel a change in how your body moves and performs daily tasks with more freedom and power!

Enjoy your Pilates practice. It is essential to optimum health and well being.
